Position title: Computer Lab Support

Site: Women’s Opportunity Center

Hours: Flexible, depending on schedule

Report to: Erica Schreiber

 

General Summary:

Volunteer assists clients in the computer lab with questions about computers, how to find information, and employment opportunities as well as answering phone calls and providing good customer service.

 

Duties:

  • Walk clients through how to use computer applications
  • Help clients navigate the web
  • Answer questions when able to
  • Assist in answering phones

 

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent skills with computers and the internet
  • Appropriate clothing
  • Good listening and communication skills
  • Ability to see good qualities in clients
  • Positive attitude that will encourage clients
  • Ability to arrive on time to volunteering times

 

Computer Lab Support volunteers assist clients with using computer programs, finding information on the internet, searching for employment, and building client skills.  The goal of the computer lab is to provide a place where clients can improve typing ability, have one-on-one mentoring support, gain Microsoft Office skills, and increase confidence with computers and technology.
