League of Women Voters

Who We Are

We would love the support of students to help us in planning and delivering different programs and events over the year. These include the Spring Judicial Panel, which is a community gathering of local and regional law enforcement and judicial officials who discuss issues of justice; monthly meetings on issues of community interest; and political fora, to include election debates and town hall discussions during primary and election cycles. We would love you help in updating and maintaining a Facebook page, a critical need for our local organization.

What We Do

The League of Women Voters is a community based organization that has fought since 1920 to improve our government and engage all citizens in the decisions that impact our lives. The League is nonpartisan, which means we don't endorse candidates or political parties. Community volunteers operate at national, state and local levels through more than 800 state and local Leagues, in all 50 states as well in DC, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands and Hong Kong. Formed from the movement that secured the right to vote for women, the centerpiece of the League's activities remain to expand participation and give a voice to all Americans. We do this starting right here in our area, by engaging in educational efforts and forums on issues our community cares about. Leagues also provide information on issues placed on the ballot as well as a guide to all elected officials who represent us at the local, State and National level. The Spokane Chapter of the League includes both women and men in its Board of Directors and welcomes all to its membership.
