Who We Are

Daybreak seeks tutors and school volunteers to work with the teachers and clients as part of their school program to provide 1 on 1 tutoring in academic subjects (Math tutors are always in demand). The commitment is as little as 1-2 hours per week. Monday-Friday 10am-Noon or 1:30-3:30pm. We also seek volunteers to assist with stocking and staffing our in-agency store which sells hygiene products and snacks to our clients or to participate in recreation activities with clients. Students in practica courses may work with the clinical services division. We also seek volunteers to serve as Independent Living Skills Instructors who help to teach a class about important skills for young adults including household budgeting, applying or interviewing for jobs, applying for college, auto repair, household repair, etc. All positions require the ability to pass a Washington State Patrol background check, a brief volunteer application, and the ability to interact comfortably with teens.

What We Do

Daybreak Youth Services was originally founded by members of the Whitworth Presbyterian Church in 1978. Since that time we have grown to operate a variety of outpatient programs and a residential drug and alcohol treatment program in Spokane. We work with youth ages 10-18 to help them develop emotional coping and life skills so that they can make a successful transition into early adulthood.
