Friend to Friend

Who We Are

Friend to Friend seeks volunteers for its Visiting Friends program as well as Service-Learning students who can assist with fundraising activities in support of the agency, community outreach programs to increase participation and awareness, and office support, to include development of an office plan, an institutional history, research on agency programming and other activities. Friend to Friend seeks community-based research on the effectiveness of its Visiting Friends program, to include: a survey of program participants to identify factors related to recruitment, retention and persistence of volunteers; a study of the current level of client contact with family and friends in facilities served by Friend to Friend; an analysis of volunteer training by Spokane-area facilities to assess best practices in retention of volunteers generally. Visiting Friends must commit to a year of service with at least two visits monthly to their matched friend.

What We Do

Friend to Friend seeks to enhance the quality of life and dignity of residents in long-term-care facilities who do not have contact with friends or family, through the support of the Visiting Friends program. Friend to Friend matches volunteers willing to commit to a year of service with facility residents on a one-on-one basis. Volunteers are required to make at least two visits monthly to the matched resident.
