Who We Are

Every day, more and more families find themselves in a struggle to keep a decent roof over their heads.

Caught in punishing cycles of unpredictable rent increases, overcrowded conditions, or lack of access to land and affordable financing, these families live with a constant burden of uncertainty, stress and fear.

Habitat for Humanity-Spokane knows that safe, decent and affordable shelter plays an absolutely critical role in helping families to create a new cycle, one filled with possibilities and progress. Affordable homeownership frees families and fosters the skills and confidence they need to invest in themselves and their communities. The outcomes can be long-lasting and life-changing.

With a little help, Habitat homeowners are able to achieve the strength and self-reliance they need to build better lives for themselves and their families. They are empowered to overcome the barriers that so often stand between their families and better, healthier, more financially stable lives.

ALL ARE WELCOME
Habitat for Humanity-Spokane has an open-door policy and is an equal housing provider. All who believe that everyone needs a decent, affordable place to live are welcome to help with the work, regardless of race, religion, age, gender, political views or any of the other distinctions that too often divide people. In short, Habitat welcomes volunteers and supporters from all backgrounds. Habitat also serves people in need of decent housing regardless of race, country of origin, religion, age, gender, familial status and/or disability. As a matter of policy, Habitat for Humanity International and its affiliated organizations do not proselytize. This means that Habitat will not offer assistance on the expressed or implied condition that people must either adhere to or convert to a particular faith or listen and respond to messaging designed to induce conversion to a particular faith.

What We Do

Everyone deserves a decent place to live, and everyone can do something to help make that possible for another family. Habitat for Humanity-Spokane partners with qualified families to build safe, decent and affordable homes. You can help these families by volunteering at the construction site or at the Habitat Store.

The construction site is currently working on the largest build in our history, a 114-home development in Deer Park as well as rehabbing derelict homes in the City of Spokane.  You can be a critical part of our success by helping to expand this neighborhood. This is a perfect opportunity for small, socially distant service groups.

We also have a need for volunteers at our Habitat Store. The Habitat Store sells low-cost building materials to the public, which funds our mission. Duties at the Store include Donor and customer assistance; appliance testing; sorting, pricing & placing donated items on the Store floor; cashiering available to regular volunteers.

Please call the Habitat for Humanity-Spokane office or check out our website www.habitat-spokane.org for more information about current opportunities.  Click here to sign up to volunteer: Volunteer Opportunities – Habitat-Spokane
