Salk Middle School

Students will be completing a summer reading project that includes reading an assigned novel, and literature rich activities.  These include dialectical journals, active reading strategies and a final written essay.  Students will also be doing author studies in preparation for visits with local young adult authors including Chris Crutcher, Terry Trueman and Kelly Milner Hall.

Salk Middle School is holding a summer reading program for any K-12 student in the area who would like to increase their reading skills.  Students will use our computer web-based program (Fast ForWord & Reading Assistant) in addition to a variety of reading and writing activities and guest readers.  The program is bookended with free breakfast and lunch daily.
