Crestline, Spokane WA) or one of our twelve (12) congregate locations located throughout Spokane County. More common tasks involve simple meal preparation, portion distribution/control, meal packaging, preparation for meal transportation, inventory and sanitary practices. The vast majority of the opportunities are located at the kitchen while those at the congregate sites will include the previously mentioned tasks plus the probability of serving meals - in whole or in part - to the general public. Volunteer: Meals on Wheels DriverGSC Meals on Wheels delivers approximately 500 hot lunchtime meals to home-bound seniors, disbursed over 40-plus delivery routes, Monday through Friday. Volunteers pick up the meals from any one of various sites throughout Spokane and Spokane County. It takes approximately 1-1/2 to 2 hours to deliver a route of 10 to 15 stops. The meals are delivered to the clients between the hours of 11:00 AM and 1:00PM. Another important component of this service is a basic “safety check” - usually nothing more than a brief conversation - for each client along the route. Volunteers choose the day of the week and frequency that they would like to deliver.
