Volunteer: No-Cost/Free produce distribution outside our office in the West Central Neighborhood.We're excited to announce that RCYO has partnered with 2nd Harvest to participate in their Zilch program! This initiative aims to provide no-cost fresh produce to our community by addressing barriers often found in other food distribution methods. Here’s how it works: Produce Delivery: Every Friday afternoon at 2:45-3:00 PM, 2nd Harvest will deliver a pallet/pallet and a half of fresh produce to our office. Distribution Location: We will distribute the produce at our designated booth outside Salem Lutheran Church (where our office is located). Distribution Duration: 3:00 PM - 5:30 PM or until all food is distributed What’s Available: The first week, we received blackberries, lemons, apples, grapefruit, cucumbers, and more. Produce may vary from week to week. The distribution time can vary depending on the volume of produce, but it typically lasts until 5:30 PM. We’re thrilled to be part of this program and look forward to serving our community with fresh, healthy food! A bike bus is a group of students biking to school together under the supervision of adult volunteers. It’s like a traditional school bus but on bicycles! This initiative not only promotes physical activity and environmental awareness but also builds a sense of community among our youth. Why Are We Doing This? Our mission is to create opportunities for youth enrichment in their neighborhood through community engagement, job training, and education. By providing a safe and supportive way for students to bike to school, we aim to: - Enhance mobility and independence for our youth -Foster a stronger sense of community - Promote physical health and environmental consciousness -Ensure equitable access to transportation Join Us!We will be biking to Holmes Elementary in the West Central neighborhood. VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!We are looking for enthusiastic volunteers to help bike with the students to and from school. This is a wonderful opportunity to connect with the community and support our youth.
