Thank you for your interest in volunteer service opportunities at The Salvation Army Food Bank as part of the Community Engaged Learning  at Whitworth University. You will need to complete the below process in addition to signing up for this volunteer need to connect. Find out about the more specific volunteer opportunities here.
1. Volunteerism at The Salvation Army begins with the completion of a packet of information found here.  This general volunteer application, which includes authorizations for The Salvation Army to facilitate background checks, is attached.  Once all forms in this packet are complete, please send all 13 pages for each packet  back to Mary Gayle Johnson at MaryGayle.Johnson@usw.salvationarmy.org  (they don't need to be individualized).  

2. Please the  instructions for the completion of required training found here for all regular volunteers which covers some of The Salvation Army Policies regarding working around children and vulnerable adults.
Once background check results are returned, I'll reach out to you to talk about potential next steps.

The Salvation Army of Spokane Food Bank assists more than 1,500 people per month. This is a client choice program, meaning that each client that comes through our doors gets to “shop” for their own food with dignity. This process relies on volunteers to assist clients and keep the shelves stocked with a variety of food choices.

Volunteers are needed Monday through Friday (with the exception of holidays).  
Once applications are received and processed and orientation is completed, volunteers manage their own hours Monday through Friday, 8:30am through 5:00pm.
