Description

Description

Case Managers connect with participants at court and help them navigate services and resources at court/throughout the week as needed. [In-person]

Duties

  • Meet with participant assigned to you at Community Court to check-in with their progress on getting the services and resources essential to them.
    • See how participants are doing: do they currently have access to food, shelter, mental health and medical care, and employment?
    • Help participants get access to food/shelter/mental health and medical care/employment by speaking with the various community partners stationed at Community Court

  • Reach out once a week via phone and/or in person to assigned participant to check-in with their progress.
    • Determine the participant's preferred day and time for a mid-week check-in
    • If participants have a phone, call them and check-in with their progress and assess their current needs
    • If participants do not have a phone, visit them at what you determine to be their regular spot and check-in with their progress and assess their current needs (ex. going to their preferred shelter, going to House of Charity's free breakfast, reaching out to Hope Center to see if the participant has been staying there/using a bed there, etc.)
    • Suggest avenues they can take to meet their needs for week

Scheduling

  • We ask that volunteers commit to a minimum of one semester's length (~4 months) of volunteer service and train the next volunteer at the end of service
  • Community Court at the Spokane Public Library: Mondays from 9am-12pm
  • Mid-week check-in: ~1 hour on Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday (determine best day/time/location with your assigned participant)
