Over the past five years, The Lands Council and hundreds of volunteers have gathered together for a very special day: Reforest Spokane Day!
Every year, thousands of trees are planted with the help of outstanding volunteers and a community that works together to preserve and protect the city of Spokane. This is the underlying mission of the annual Reforest Spokane Day: to continue to plant trees as a community until future generations in the beautiful Inland Northwest are surrounded by one million trees that symbolize community, stewardship, and dedication.
The benefits of planting these trees include:
- Providing much-needed shade, especially in urban areas;
- Reducing traffic noise;
- Stormwater absorption resulting in cleaner watersheds;
- Creating habitat for wildlife species;
- And an increasing visual presence of our wonderful city.
We need Crew leaders to be in charge of small groups to promote safety and answer questions. There will be training a few days before the event.
We also need an Event Coordinator to facilitate groups, supplies, set up and clean up.
