We are looking for highly motivated, energetic individuals who are passionate about the GOTR mission and vision. Interns will work directly with the staff and board members and be exposed to our shared leadership organizational structure. Interns will receive guidance, mentoring and support for the duration of their internship. Our program sites are located across Spokane County and therefore hours and locations of activities will vary depending on interns’ availability and responsibilities. Flexibility is a plus. Each intern will be required to complete a minimum of 70+ hours. Our internships are site and home-office based. We are open to applicants from any major/minor and year of graduation. This is a non-paid student internship.

Focus Areas:

 

Program & Education: Help us ensure our 10-week curriculum, which teaches girls to live with a stronger sense of identity, greater self-confidence, a healthier body image and a better knowledge of what it means to be a member of a team and a community, is operating effectively at each program site. This may involve coaching at one or more of our sites, serving as a substitute coach, and supporting staff with the development and implementation of the program across the county. SKILLS LEARNED: Facilitate programs with pre-teen girls, effectively deliver curriculum, manage a group, and work with a team. REQUIRED: Transportation, 3 afternoons per week, additional flexible hours.

Evaluation & Research: Learn to conduct a seasonal survey with girls throughout our teams in Spokane County using standard YPQA (Youth Program Quality Assessment) procedures. Input and assist with analysis of results for a pre and post-season analysis of girls. In addition, serve as a coach for our teams and conduct site visits to monitor the effectiveness and efficiency of our program. SKILLS LEARNED: Evaluation protocol, survey management, and program management. REQUIRED: Transportation, 4 afternoons per week, additional flexible hours.

Development & Fundraising: Assist in developing and executing our fundraising plans and grant research. This may involve assisting in running our annual fundraiser, helping us outreach to individual donors or researching and writing grants. SKILLS LEARNED: Gain non-profit fundraising and development skills. REQUIRED: Transportation, 2 afternoons per week, flexible hours.

Communications & Marketing: Help us tailor our messages to reach intended audiences. This may include using social media, helping craft specific and targeted messages, representing GOTR at public events, and developing and executing marketing and/or public relations plans. SKILLS LEARNED: Develop communication, marketing and public relations skills. REQUIRED: Transportation, 2 afternoons per week, additional flexible hours and some weekends.

Administrative & Volunteerism: Help support Girls on the Run staff, coaches, and volunteers by organizing and completing administrative tasks and projects. Conduct site visits and serve as a substitute coach to monitor and enhance volunteer experiences. SKILLS LEARNED: Attain exposure to non-profit and volunteer management systems and hone organizational skills and record-keeping abilities. REQUIRED: Transportation, 3 afternoons per week, flexible hours.
