Volunteers are always needed to serve in the Refreshment Lounge/Canteen, which provides refreshments to blood donors as a thank you for the precious gift of life they have just given. Volunteers serve the donors, answer questions, observe for adverse reactions, and take care of the donor needs until they leave the area. We also need volunteers to serve as couriers to travel throughout the Inland Northwest to our mobile blood drives. Blood products are picked up from the blood drive and are brought back to the Spokane location. Vitalant provides all transportation vehicles for this service. Many departments also utilize volunteers to fulfill clerical needs. These include computer work, filing, and other projects, which provide valuable assistance to our staff. There are opportunities to assist with the monthly mobile blood drives here on campus. All volunteers must complete an application and screening; volunteers working with donors and blood products must complete an extensive screening. We welcome practicum students

Every day Vitalant needs 200 donors to ensure a safe supply of blood. Since 1945, Vitalant, formerly Inland Northwest Blood Center has been committed to serving the patients of the Inland Northwest with state-of-the-art technology and excellent customer service. Our mission is to save lives by providing blood and services to support transfusion and transplantation medicine in the Inland Northwest.
