Who We Are

For the poor, the disadvantaged, and those trying to rebuild lives after jail, it can be hard to handle even small legal needs for a drivers license, or clearing a damaging criminal record, or dealing with fraud. You may face barriers to jobs, housing, medical care, voting or government benefits.  We help with all these things, and we also help people trying to protect their neighborhood or our local environment.

What We Do

We are advocates for a just community. On the individual level, we help thousands of local people with basic legal needs such as getting a driver’s license back or dealing with landlord abuses. Our programs work to overcome barriers to employment, and to assist those who have been “in the system” to get back on their feet. On the community level, we keep local governments accountable for things like police misconduct and enforcing our local land use laws. We also work to ease medical access for the disadvantaged.
