Serving Humanity

is about more than simply voting in presidential elections or volunteering. You can also advocate for the world you want to live in by participating in these and other pathways to being a neighbor who invests in our community.

Policy & Governance Attend an ASWU or Spokane City Council meeting. ASWU meets Wednesdays at 5pm and the Spokane City Council meets Mondays at 6pm.

Philanthropy Donate basic needs and hygene items to the Dornsife Center in Weyer 105 or send what's sitting in your Venmo to a local organization. Even $1 makes a difference.

Direct Service Discover mental health benefits to volunteering, like stress reduction and combatting depression. Find organizations with needs at serve.whitworth.edu.

Community Organizing & Activism Join a campus club or bring together like-minded friends to discuss ways to educate and mobilize others to respond to the tangible issues impacting you.

Community Engaged Learning & Research Enroll in courses with service-learning as part of your coursework - ask professors how they structure their classes to respond to real-world issues.

Social Entrepreneurship & Corporate Social Responsibility Patronize organizations that attempt to innovate solutions to community needs or give philanthropically in ways you support.
