riginally known as the Downtown Women's Shelter, Hope House was founded in response to the 1997 serial murders of women on the streets of Spokane to offer women protection from violence on the street. Operated by Volunteers of America since 2001, Hope House is dedicated to making a significant difference in the lives of homeless women. Hope House provides an overnight shelter and permanent housing for single, homeless women, ages 18 and over. Volunteers are needed to help in the emergency shelter in the mornings or evenings. Volunteers must be 18 or over and able to pass a background check.
