During this activity, a student group will be going to River's Wish Sanctuary to help provide the sanctuary with its physical needs so that the facility itself can focus on rescuing and fostering animals in the Spokane community. River's Wish Sanctuary is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt charitable organization that fosters and rescues many animals in Spokane (including but not limited to horses, goats, and chickens). The sanctuary also focuses on providing a humane education program, in which the priority of the organization is to teach compassion and direction for humanity.
Activities with this community partner might include:
- helping to clean up the goat yard at the facility by raking and hauling stuff
- cleaning up and organizing materials (such as sheet metal, wood, etc.)
- pounding in T-Posts for fencing and removing old fencing in the horse area of the facility
- putting up walls on an open door in the red barn where the pigs are located
