We want to extend an invitation to participate in an exciting event that is happening March 17th at Thrive International!
Thrive is a new non-profit in Spokane that supports local refugees. Thrive Center currently houses over 100 Ukrainian-refugee families not only providing safe shelter for the families, but also offer different events, educational resources, and programming. They currently have about 50 youth, many of whom are musicians and some of whom are interested in pursuing music (possibly at Whitworth?!) in the future!
The event will be on March 17th from about 5-9pm at Thrive Center (South Spokane). Our vision is for groups of Whitworth music students (whether you are a major or music is just something you love to do) to share your music and to connect with the youth that are living at Thrive! Feel free to coordinate with your friends and peers to put together groups that might be interested in bringing your instruments (and/or voice!) and sharing a piece or two that are already in your repertoire - this is all pretty casual! Note that each person will need to individually register through this form, even as you coordinate in groups!
After a time of sharing music, we will have a more interactive space to hang out with the Thrive students (and potentially have a jam session with them afterwards if they're interested). There will be some fun snacks! Our ultimate hope is to be able to build a bridge between the Whitworth community and the Thrive community.
