Who We Are

The YMCA of the Inland Northwest is comprised of the Central Spokane, North Spokane, and Spokane Valley YMCAs in addition to YMCA Camp Reed. The Y also sponsors the Spokane County Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP). Offering services and programs to the Spokane community the Y employs its three areas of focus for Youth Development, Healthy Living and Social responsibility. By providing accredited and licensed early childcare, community youth sports, teen mentoring, health and wellness programs and volunteer opportunities the Y is an integral part of the Spokane community. The Y offers a variety of volunteer opportunities and membership options for program participation or facility use. Our programs reflect and support the diversity of our community while encouraging individuality and strong character values. Financial assistance is available for low income community members and provides the opportunity for the underserved to engage in programs that builds strong communities. What We Do

The mission of the YMCA is to put Christian principles into action through programs that build healthy spirit, mind and body for all. In 1884 a group of leading citizens founded the Spokane YMCA as a way to develop Christian leadership among youth and young adults. In 1906 the YMCA opened their new five-story Downtown YMCA at First and Lincoln, offering sports and a year-round swimming pool. In 1964 the YMCA moved into Riverfront Park. In 1915 Camp Reed was established as a resident camp on Fan Lake northeast of Spokane. In May 2000 the Spokane Valley YMCA opened its doors as a new state-of-the art facility. Responding to Spokane's growth and the interest and needs of the community the YMCA and YWCA collaborated to intentionally establish the first YM/YWCA from the ground up. The facility opened its doors in May 2009. In addition the YMCA opened a much needed north facility on the north side of Spokane on Hwy 2 and corporate offices. Rebranding the YMCA to the Y For Youth Development For Healthy Living For Social Responsibility As a leading non-profit with a strong, meaningful brand, the Y was faced with presenting itself consistently as a unified cause with shared values and a common voice. With a promise and values as guides, the Y's look, voice, architecture and areas of focus establish the foundation from which the YMCA movement will continue to strengthen and serve our communities in the decades to come.
